———-
Enjoy a concert celebrating the swingin’ music of Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald, two of the most beloved artists in jazz history, each with performing and recording careers of over six decades. In 1956, Ella and Louis partnered for several memorable recordings on Decca Records with the famed Oscar Peterson Quartet, followed by two more recordings for Verve Records. This concert by the Lisa Kelly/JB Scott Septet presents ‘hits’ from those timeless projects!
Six popular jazz artists have collaborated for this special tribute, including former Larry Elgart vocalist Lisa Kelly, former leader of the Dukes of Dixieland trumpeter JB Scott, multiinstrumentalists Dr. Bill Prince, former Air Force Airmen of Note bandleader trombonist Dave Steinmeyer, renowned pianist Scott Giddens, Walt Disney World bassist Jay Mueller, and former Ray Charles drummer Rick Kirkland. With national and international performance career backgrounds steeped in classic to modern swing jazz styles of the 1930’s, 40’s and beyond, these six notable artists present their well-received, highly musical show to SFSC, entertaining you with signature tunes from two of the ‘greats’ of jazz!
